Mixing patterns of the same design

Even high-quality clothes can make you look sloppy in two cases: if they are ill-fitting or you combine them wrong. Mixing patterns is a skill every man should master, not just because it gives confidence to you and make your wardrobe suddenly seem bigger but because it is simply fun.

The basic rule of mixing the same designs if keeping the scale of them as far as possible. A narrow-striped shirt goes perfectly with a wide-striped tie, and a windowpane suit is very much compatible with a tiny-checkered tie. With two designs of the same scale meet the eye instinctively tries to determine which ends where, thus averting the observers attention from the face.
